Ozark Outdoors – Float Trip View Comments
I went down to Ozark Outdoors for my third float trip since I’ve lived in St. Louis. This time was the first time it rained… and rained HARD through the night. The eight of us started out the night huddled in our 11-man tent but after a couple hours it started leaking. So we braved the rain in ponchos and started a fire. The neighboring campsite had a whiffle ball bat they were using to drink beer so we joined in. It made the drizzling rain less noticeable!
We ended up sleeping in the car Friday night and finally got on the river at 10:30am on Saturday with the six of us that toughed it out.
Once we got on the river it was smooth sailing. We went on the 4 mile “Scotia” float which goes down the Huzzah. Perfect for partiers. We stopped many times along the way, turning our raft upside down to make a slip-n-slide (something we had seen on the previous trip). Someone even had baby oil to lube it up (I didn’t ask why!). I also did my first ever beer bong! The float was the perfect length and it stops back at Ozark Outdoors so you don’t have to ride the bus back once you’re drunk.
Saturday night after the float we were all drunk and tired. I guess that’s the difference between being 22 and 28. Eight hours on the river really takes it out of you. We had a blast though and will definitely be back!
Ozark Outdoors is one of my favorite places to float because they’re so organized and they have a late night party section of campsites with a 2am quiet time. See you next summer!
