Weekend Preview 9/18 View Comments
Here’s the preview of events going on this weekend. This is going to be a weekly post, hopefully on Thursday so that you can plan everything out!
GROVEFEST
Taking place this Saturday from 4pm until 10pm-ish, Grovefest is one of my favorite summer events. Zack and I went in 2007 to see the Arch Rival Roller Girls skate. Spanky’s hosted the event and they had a fashion show and dancers on the stripper pole! So if that doesn’t convince you to check out Grovefest, check out the pictures I took from 2007. (and I know, my camera wasn’t very good back then) I will definitely be attending this event!

And okay, there are much better pictures here.
THE GREAT FOREST PARK BALLOON RACE (& GLOW IN THE PARK)
When I lived in the CWE, I could see the balloons in the sky outside my window. I’ve never been to this event but the pictures I see on Flickr of the glow are always amazing. I’m going to try and make it tonight and take one of the pups! The Glow and the Race are both on central fields, which you can find on this map if you’re planning your driving route. Does anyone have experience with the parking situation? Should I get there way early or will I be able to find something within decent walking distance?
This Saturday from 6-10pm at Luvy Duvy’s Cafe (Jefferson and Arsenal @ Benton Park) St. Louis Boxer Rescue is throwing a fundraiser to benefit their organization. Tickets are $25 at the door and includes all you can drink beer and wine, free appetizers and music. Make sure to tip because Zack will be working the bar from 6-8pm! There will also be a silent auction full of goodies. Depending on what happens at Grovefest I plan to attend!
PLAY:stl 2009
Wristbands are $15 for this event that goes through Saturday. The wristband gets you a free Chipotle burrito and Schlafly beer. I thought there was an interactive conference portion of it last year that a lot of my peers went to but I can’t remember. Looks like this year is just lots and lots of music. I won’t be attending this event.
HOP IN THE CITY
Noon to 5pm on Saturday at the Schlafly Tap Room. Tickets are $35 at the door. Personally, I think the price is a little steep, but I’m not a beer connoisseur. I won’t be making it out to Hop in the City this year.
