Weekend Preview 9/25 View Comments
Another weekend and some more great events. The weather’s been dreary lately but that’s no excuse to stay home! Are your plans already set? If not, take a look at what’s going on in South City this weekend. I’ve been fighting back a cold these past few days but I’m still going to try to enjoy the weekend. I don’t think I’ll be making it to any of these events this weekend since I have other plans, but they all seem great. If you’re going, snap some pictures and email me at southcitystl [at] gmail.com. I’ll give you credit and link to your website or Twitter if you’ve got one.
Steve Ewing @ Tin Can
I’ve been wanting to see Steve Ewing in concert for a while now and Tin Can would be a really intimate location. I mean really, with a band in there they can only hold about 35-40 people on the main floor, right? I have other plans so unfortunately I can’t go. If you don’t know, Steve was the lead singer of The Urge. If you haven’t heard of them, check out this video for “Jump Right In.”
Angels’ Arms Bar Bounce
I’m pretty peeved that I just found out about this event TODAY! I really wanted to go last year but didn’t have enough time to get 8 people together. Same thing happened this year! Plus, I missed the deadline to get team shirts (9/13) which was also the deadline for pre-registration ($40). Now the tickets are $50 per person and you don’t even get a team t-shirt. Will someone please take note and start advertising this event somewhere that makes sense? I know they already have tons of people going to the event but it’s for charity so I’m sure they’d welcome more.
Strange Folk Festival
Here’s an idea for those of you that want to get outside the city this weekend. The Strange Folk Festival, an indie arts and crafts show, is going on this Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 6pm in O’Fallon, IL. I’ve never been but it looks like a fun, laid back event. I love their tag line – “A festival of social significance. A craft happening in psychedelic color.” Plus our very own St. Louis craftster Courtney, of Twisted Handmade, will be there!
Leave a comment and let me know where you’re going this weekend!
