Weekend Preview 10/2 View Comments
Oops, in the midst of my hangover today I remembered that I hadn’t posted the weekend preview! There’s so much going on this weekend it’s going to be hard to choose. Leave a comment and let me know what you’ve got on this weekend’s agenda.
Taste of St. Louis
The Taste will be going on all weekend, downtown at Soldier’s Memorial (12th and Market). They’ll have yummy food, cool art, and some really great music. I’m looking forward to The Presidents of the United States of America tonight (SHE’S LUMP, SHE’S LUMP!) and 40oz. to Freedom (a Sublime Tribute Band – check their video out on the Taste website) on Sunday. Check out the music schedule here. I’m going to try and make it down there this weekend because it’s a great way to try a bunch of different food without spending a ton of money at each restaurant.
St. Louis Wine Festival
This Saturday and Sunday afternoon, the Wine Festival will be in Forest Park. For $20 ($25 at the door) you get a wine glass, ten tastings, Food & Wine seminars, and cooking demonstrations. Additional tasting coupons are $5.00 (ten tastings). Ten tastings?? That seems a little weak for $25, especially since they have over 200 there. I’m sure the cooking demonstrations and other seminars are cool but I don’t think I’ll be attending the Wine Festival this weekend. I just really don’t like wine enough. And I don’t know if it’s just me, but wine gives me a strange buzz and the worst hangover.
Shaw Art Fair
This event is taking place in my neighborhood (one street over!) so I’ll take a peek and snag a few pictures. It’s $5 to get in and is located on Flora. Check out the website for more info.
Best of Missouri Market
145 Missouri food producers, artisans, and vendors will be at the Missouri Market this Saturday and Sunday from 9am – 5pm.
Morganford in Motion
Come to the corner of Morganford and Juniata this Saturday for some great music. It kicks off at noon with String Buzz and Steve Ewing will be there from 5-6:30pm. Check out their website for the complete schedule.
Soulard Mug Crawl
Saturday is the 2nd annual Soulard Mug Crawl. For $15 you get a 33oz mug, a pair of gloves (holding that mug gets chilly!), and free admission to Soulard Oktoberfest next weekend (10/9-11). If you haven’t gotten a ticket yet, make sure you get to The Library at 4pm on Saturday so secure your spot. Participating bars include: The Library, 1860s, Molly, The Shanty, Gladstones, and Bar 101. This is a marathon – 6pm ’til 3am – so make sure you pace yourself!
Tri-City Garage Sale
Richmond Heights, Maplewood and Brentwood join together for a huge garage sale. They expect over 500 sites! Visit the info booth in front of the Brentwood Community Center, 2505 S. Brentwood or THE HEIGHTS, 8001 Dale, between 7-10 a.m. on Oct. 6 for free continental breakfast treats, coffee and a map of all garage sale locations. No sales prior to 7 a.m.
Apple Picking Tweetup
This Sunday, at 2pm, a bunch of STL Tweeps are meeting at the Country Store at the Belleville Eckert’s to pick some apples. Search Twitter for #STLAppleTweetup to see who’s going and check out @versadave’s blog post for more information.
Oh, and our pet event of the weekend will be the Boxer Fun Day out west at Love Park off Manchester. Whew, lots of choices this weekend!
