Weekend Preview 10/16 View Comments

It’s time for the oh-so-anticipated Weekend Preview! This weekend there are quite a few things going on, but the one I’m most excited about is THE RED PUMPKIN BLACK LIGHT HUNT! But let’s back up a bit here and check out the calendar.

Here are some of my personal picks for this weekend:

Social Media Club – Social Media & The Greater Good
I’ve been meaning to go to one of these for a while now, but I can never make it! Especially now, with Zack working 6am-7pm, I’m in charge of the dogs. I can’t really make a happy hour unless I take them to doggy day care. If you have the time tonight, I’d definitely recommend going. It starts at 5:30pm at Mandarin Lounge. Get all the details and register here.

The Red Pumpkin Hunt
redpumpkinI am so happy I found out about Hannah Games! I don’t even remember how I found out, probably through a Google search. It’s nice to find an event in St. Louis that doesn’t involve sitting on a bar stool (although there’s a time and place for that too).

Hannah Games is run by a husband/wife team in St. Louis and they host the craziest, most fun scavenger hunts around St. Louis City. They all involve riddles, clues, and answers hidden around town. We got a team together in July for the Big Ball Charity Hunt, and it was a blast! All the clues were related to BALLS as you can see from the picture of me eating fiery Cheetos. (click here to see more pictures – password: sherwood)Friday night will be our second Hannah Games scavenger hunt. It’s called the red pumpkin black light hunt because all the clues will be written in black light ink. We get to visit the scariest, darkest places in St. Louis to find all the clues and solve the riddle. The winning team gets $500 if they solve the riddle and find the red pumpkin. This time, 140 teams signed up, so they’re actually running two simultaneous hunts (probably so we don’t get into an accident). You can read more about the hunt on their website. Our team name is “I’d Rather Be Naked.”

If you missed this scavenger hunt, the next one is the Stocking Stuffer Toy Drive Hunt on December 6, 2009.

St. Louis Interactive 2009 The St. Louis Bloggers Guild’s annual Interactive Conference takes place at Shock City Music Works (2200 Gravois) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The conference is free, but seats are limited. Panels and sessions are geared toward bloggers (new and seasoned). Lots of great St. Louis Tweeps will be there! I signed up and I’m going to try and make it to some of the sessions!

Fresh Hop Ale Festival I saw the original tweet from Schlafly about this event and penciled it in on the calendar. Unfortunately, so much other stuff is going on, I don’t think I’ll have the time to go and actually get my money’s worth. It’s from 12-4pm at Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood and is $30 at the door. Plan on attending to get a taste of your local breweries and listen to some live music.

Kamikaze Scary O’kee I heard about this event on Facebook from the ARRG Jeerleaders and knew I had to go. It’s basically karaoke with a little twist – you can pay $2 and put someone else on the stage to sing! How fun is that? You can also pay $3 (or more) to gong someone off the stage! I’ve been wanting a bar to do a gong-type show for so long now. Anyway, it’s hosted by Jacqie Jackson, who I think you might recognize if you live in South City or like karaoke. You should come! Zack and I will probably be there early to get a good seat.

What are you doing this weekend?
