Halloween Weekend View Comments

Halloween is coming up this weekend and I hope you’ve already decided on a costume!  I kicked around a few ideas for a while before deciding on mine.  Two years ago I went as Eve, as in Adam & Eve.  Last year I went as Amanda from Saw I and wore the reverse bear trap mask.  I actually made the Saw mask myself!  Here’s a link to the Instructable I wrote on it.  Everyone loved it and couldn’t believe it was just cardboard, newspaper and spray paint.  I would have worn it again this year, but Zack’s dressing up with a friend of his instead.

Saw I Reverse Bear Trap Mask Halloween CostumeHere’s our Halloween weekend plan.  A friend is flying in from Dallas and 3 more are coming from Springfield, IL.  We plan to find a costume contest on Friday night and then party into the wee hours.  On Saturday, we’re driving to Springfield, IL for a house party.  Here are the costumes.

Zack and Ryan are going as The Ambiguously Gay Duo.  They did this  two years ago (MY IDEA!) and won a ton of costume contests.  I think it’s something that pretty much everyone recognizes but you don’t see too many out on Halloween.

James and Justin are going as Dennis and Charlie from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.  Specifically this scene where they create the Dayman song.  James will be wearing the Dayman outfit I won from the @HelloGreenMan twitter contest and Justin will be wearing long johns and silver spray paint.  If you haven’t seen Always Sunny, please make a point to catch it this Thursday at 9pm CT on FX.  It is so good.

So that leaves me and Gosia, Ryan’s wife.  We talked about a few ideas – trolls, paper dolls, garden gnomes, etc, before deciding on 80’s aerobics instructors (like Jane Fonda).  We’ll probably see a few of them out on Halloween, but we didn’t have a lot of time to create something.  Next year it’d be awesome to make Frakenberry and Count Chocula.

What’s your Halloween costume?  Do you go for something original or keep it simple?  What about the girls?  Are you sick of seeing everyone dressed in knee highs and short skirts?

As for the events this weekend, here’s what I have on the calendar.  We won’t be in town on Saturday so if you document an event and want to post it here, let me know.

Friday
The Halloween Funk Jam at the Atomic Cowboy
Halloween Weekend Bash at Jive & Wail
‘Stache Bash at the Orpheum Theater

Saturday
Morgan Ford Pub Crawl & Costume Contest
Halloween Costume Contest at Novak’s
1st Annual Vampire’s Ball at Absoluti Goosed

And then of course there’s always the CWE’s Halloween party.  From my experience it’s usually too crowded to really enjoy, but it’s fun to see if you’ve never been.
