Halloween 2009 View Comments

Like you read in my last post, we had quite the eclectic group of costumes for Halloween.  Ambiguously Gay Duo, Dennis & Charlie, 80’s Aerobics.  We also had Mustard and Dodgeball.  You can check out all the Flickr pictures here.

Our GroupOur plan was to go out in St. Louis on Friday night and then drive to Springfield, IL for a friend’s house party on Saturday night.  I think the older you get, the less you want to go out and drink on holiday nights like this.  Way too many idiots out there making bad decisions.  So that’s why I was searching for a Friday night costume contest.

Jive & Wail was offering all you can drink and a contest, but it was $25 to get in ($20 for girls) and we wouldn’t be there all night to justify the cost.  Atomic Cowboy was having a contest too, so we headed over there around 9pm.  First off, the door guy was completely rude.  He said something sarcastic like,80's Aerobics Instructors “Oh, I didn’t know Halloween was tonight,” and he had no clue about any costume contest.  We found a flyer next to bathroom that clearly said FRIDAY OCTOBER 30TH.  The bartender said she thought the contest was at 10pm, so we decided to stick around even though no one was dressed up (people were still eating dinner!).  After about 45 minutes of crappy service and no more costumes, we decided to just leave.

We headed over to Nick’s Pub because our friend Kelly was bartending and we figured there might be more costumed people there since it’s a young bar.  We ended up having a blast at Nick’s and stayed there until about 1:15am and then it was back to our house to finish the night with frozen pizzas.

What did you do for Halloween?  Do you have pictures you want to share?  Post them to our Facebook group!
