This weekend was a fun one, even though it was a little hectic! We spent most of it in Springfield, IL, but still managed to get around to our South City staples.
Friday night we went to Nick’s Pub on Manchester to get some dinner. Normally we go here to drink, not to eat, but I was craving a burger and they have many different variations on the menu. Also, we know the bartender and hadn’t seen her in a while. I ended up getting the Belfast Burger with chips. Now, this burger is no joke. Half pound burger, topped with roast beef, cheese, onion straws, and BBQ sauce (for $6.95). I was surprised, it was really good for bar food. The rest of their menu looks pretty tasty too, so I’ll be going back soon. Check out the STL Meal Deals review of Nick’s for some more insight on their menu and daily drink specials.
After our 7pm dinner, we ended up running into a few friends and chatting with Kelly the bartender all night. Before we knew it, it was last call. And Nick’s is a 3am bar. Oops.
We spent Saturday night in Springfield for Ryan’s birthday, then headed back to St. Louis City and to Black Thorn. Their pizza is just so good and hard to resist after a day hungover and driving. Plus, on Sunday you can get there right at 5pm and only have to wait 45 minutes for your pie. We were going to stay for a couple more drinks but the bartender was slower than usual. I expect to wait a little while between drinks when I’m at Black Thorn, but last Sunday night was ridiculous. So we heading home. Oh, and that picture of the pizza might look gross, but trust me, it’s so good.
Monday night was such a hectic day at work, plus Zack’s work van broke down, so we decided to go to Tin Can for a late dinner and drinks. I’m so glad we did because I got to see a table of four play Edward Forty Hands. Personally, I’ve never played it before (power hour and flip cup were our games of choice in college), but I’ve always wanted to. They only stayed for the game and then left about 45 minutes later. Matt, Kara (or Cara?), and Margaret – if you’re reading this, what inspired you to head out to Tin Can on a Monday night and play Forty Hands?
Tonight I’ll be at The Pioneer Woman book signing because I’m a huge nerd
. Speaking of huge nerd, I’ll also be at the Social Media Club gathering on Thursday night.
