FUEL Poker Pub Crawl View Comments

Last Saturday was the FUEL for the City’s first annual Poker Pub Crawl in Dogtown.  The concept was, jump on the party bus and make your way to five different bars in Dogtown.  Collect a playing card at each stop to form a poker hand.  The only way you can get more cards is to buy a raffle ticket ($5), then you get to draw again.  The best poker hand at the end of the night wins the prize!  Unfortunately, we didn’t win.  The winning team had four Queens… FOUR.  They must have bought a lot of raffle tickets because that seems highly unlikely (even though there was a full deck at each bar).  We had a full house, nines over tens.

Even though we left the pub crawl empty handed that night, we still had fun.  Our team was kind of a mish mash of different people, brought together by a couple we all knew, that couldn’t come at the last minute.  A few people took off with friends in other groups, but we had a core of four.  This turned out to be for the better when we used our free drink coupons!

Tame Party Bus

Here’s the pub crawl schedule.  Each group went to these 5 bars in a different order.  It was designed so that you would get to party with everyone sometime during the event.  I only wish the party bus schedule was better communicated.  We missed it a couple times and if someone hadn’t told us it was picking up at 10min til the hour, we probably wouldn’t have made the after party.

1:30 – 2:00 Pat’s Bar – Registration
2:00 – 3:00 Felix’s – Free Bucket (6)
This was our first stop and our chance to get to know our teammates.  It looked like a cool bar but it was just too crowded for our group.
3:00 – 4:00 Latitude 26 – Free Margarita Pitcher (plus yummy chips & salsa)
The chips and salsa were good and a much needed snack during hour two of our crawl.  However, the drinks were very expensive.  I had a vodka/club soda after the free margarita and it was $6.  Maybe that’s why I don’t go to the fancy places :) .
4:00 – 5:00 Arena Bar & Grill - Free Shots (tasted like everclear or very horrible vodka with a light mixer!)
Seems like a chill dive bar to check out again when it’s not overrun with pub crawlers!
5:00 – 6:00 Seamus McDaniel’s – Free Pitcher (we got Sam Adams Winter Lager!)
We went off the schedule printed on our lanyards and went to Seamus before Arena.  There was no one there, oops!
6:00 – 7:00 Nick’s Pub – Free Pitcher
We know Nick’s Pub well and have written about it before :) .
7:00 – ?:?? Felix’s – After-party, raffle, and free pizza
Pizza was really good!  My only complaint is that it ran out too quickly!
